If it Were Our Dream
It is common in group dreamwork to offer guidance to the dreamer using the phrase, “If it were my dream.” But what if dreams belonged both to the one who dreamed them and also spoke to issues that affect the wider community? While Western psychological approaches to dreamwork tend to approach dreamwork as a way to resolve individual complexes and heal personal wounds, traditional dream practices across cultures often embrace the collective nature of dreams to connect us with ancestors and offer information and warnings to help communities survive and thrive.
