Pondering: Who goes to sleep? Who goes to dream?
When I go to sleep I ask myself: Who is going to sleep and who is going to dream?
The “I” that I know by day, (my body, my familiar identity, my ego), goes to sleep in the sense of turning off — and another aspect of my self, more mysterious and less ‘tagged’ and known – awakens into the dream.
Like the smoke released from a candle flame when it is blown out, when “I” go to sleep, this other part of me is set free, coming un-tethered, drifting off.
And that is who, when “I” go to sleep, goes off to dream.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

hmmm, thinking about it. mysterious indeed!
sweet dreams!
I wish I could sleep longer so that I could have more dreams. Someday!
“The “I” that I know by day, (my body, my familiar identity, my ego), goes to sleep in the sense of turning off — and another aspect of my self, more mysterious and less ‘tagged’ and known – awakens into the dream.” Yeah, when that happens, it is mind opening and mysteriously unpredictable. Last night, on the other hand, the “I” that I know by day was the “I” that was there in my very predictable night excursions. Been there, done that, felt that before. Oh well, there’s always tonight to be surprised, to become “un-tethered” 🙂
yes, isn’t it funny? i find images are sometimes so strong, just before dropping off, i am pondering over which “I” is doing that? mine “I”? or, brrrrrr…
This seems like a never ending riddle. Our conscious thinking tends to ignore our unconscious wiring that makes us who we are.
Pondering is done best just before sleep. It give the brain a chance to work on things a bit more. :>) Thanks for visiting Pooh and me today.
You are a beautiful writer!
I remember hearing that in certain cultures they believe that when you sleep, you encounter the Divine.
